Review of Altmann Attraction DAC & BYOB amplifier

Charles,

I've been running the DAC for a week now.

The BYOB amp is great, but the DAC is unbelievable. Er, believable.

I've never heard this depth of timing and resolution from any source.

The organic constitution of individual performers becomes evident, for example with subtle variations of timing in percussion.

So the performance is no longer a monolithic projection -- a wall of sound -- but rather an intimate dialogue among the players.

Psychically the listener goes to the centre of the stage, with music dancing all around.

I'm glad you know I'm not merely flattering you, though I guess it can sound like that.

I hear a lot of gratitude in the reviews I read on your website.

Many of us have been listening out for this all our adult lives: a complete, true, believable sound.

In arriving at this sound I've experienced astonishment, discomfort, excitement and relief.

Now the quest has ended, and real enjoyment begins.

So there is gratitude, yes, and it's very personal.

Peter
